Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Renberg is more excited about the grand life-giving, world-transforming potential of the Church than ever before in his 33+ years of ministry, having pastored churches in 4 different states and now since 2016 at Anchor Point Bible Church in Norton Shores
Pastor Rob has been married to Amy for 34 years and they have four grown children, and is known as “Baba” (Swahili for Grandpa) to their 6 grandchildren. He has been an adjunct professor at Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids since he received his Ph.D. (in Pulpit Communication and Expository Preaching) in 2005 from Trinity Theological Seminary. He has also served the past 20 years on the board of Grace Ministries International, a missionary sending organization and has traveled to Africa 8 different times as well as Central America as a guest preacher and teacher and ministry equipper for National Pastors. Most recently, in 2019, he traveled to Zambia and Malawi to help facilitate and develop the mission and vision of the Grace churches in those countries.
He loves outdoor activities, including golf, hunting, and taking the 5 minute walk over the dunes from their home to Lake Michigan to enjoy the sunrise/sunsets and gorgeous beach. His life verse is “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil.1:21). He is a positive, enthusiastic leader whose great joy and passion is to preach the Word of God rightly divided and point people to their identity and completeness in Christ and the victorious Christian life by the grace of God. The Bible comes alive as he preaches with practical and applicable truths for daily living.
Dr. Rob's Skills
Steve grew up at Anchor Point Bible in Muskegon as “the Pastor’s Kid”, as well as the only boy of 4 children (not to mention the youngest). He never cared much for church or for any “organized religion” growing up and on into his first couple years of college.
His god was basketball and a fast lifestyle. That was until a Sunday night in August of 1997. Steve was 24 years old, and that night he realized he was missing something. Everything that he tried on his own was failing, that there was an emptiness in his life. That “something” was God’s love and grace through a personal relationship with Jesus. On that late summer night, Steve gave his life to God.
He cried out to God and said, “Lord whatever you want from me, I am yours. I completely surrender my life to you!” That night Steve started his ‘ministry life’ by sharing his story with the college class that met on Sunday nights after church (he was invited by a few students who asked him lots of questions).
A year later he attended Liberty University where he went on to do Youth Ministry for the next 13 years. He then stepped away from ministry for a short season where he did social work with the state of Michigan. But then, through a series of God moments, Steve found his way back into ministry, and of all places back here at Anchor Point Bible Church as the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries.
Steve’s passion for God and for people is relentless. One of his greatest enjoyments is to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others and being able love people right where they are in life, with the same love and grace that Jesus has shown to him.
Steve is married to Amanda, and their 4 children are Isaac, Levi, Mia, and Xander. He loves to golf, fish, and spend time with his family outdoors camping and geocaching. And he has the gift of drinking copious amounts of coffee at any given time!
Pastor Steve's Skills
Emily was born in Whitehall, Michigan to God-loving parents. She was raised in the church, where she developed her own love for our amazing savior. When Emily was six years old her father died of cancer and the family moved to Twin Lake. She attended a special camp for children who had lost parents, and she fell in love with camping. Her mother worked hard to ensure that she could attend church camp every summer.
In the summer of 2008 she met Garrett Pfromm at Grace Adventures. They were both there as volunteers serving in the dish room together as well as helping with landscaping projects, cleaning bathrooms and more. They became good friends and kept in touch after camp, emailing each other late into the night. They knew early on that they were a perfect fit for each other and couldn’t wait to get married.
After graduation Garrett joined the Marine Corps, he left for boot camp at 17. When he returned home on his two week leave, the two were finally wed. This past September the pair celebrated 9 years of marriage. Garrett left for 8 months of training in various states, they were finally reunited when he got stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina. In 2015 their son Benjamin was born and the couple couldn’t have been more overjoyed. Three months after Benjamin’s birth the family would had to pick up and move across the country, back to Michigan when Garrett’s enlistment ended.
Back in their home state the couple quickly began looking for a home of their own and settled down here in Norton Shores. Emily was blessed to be a stay at home mom to Benjamin for many years while attending Muskegon Community College on the side. When Benjamin was six they found Grand Haven Christian and fell in love with the school and their values.
With Benjamin in school full time, Emily found herself with a lot more free time on her hands. She wanted to do something that mattered and to find a way to give back to her community. Emily volunteered to fill in the gap and serve as a temporary secretary until the church could fill the position. She loved serving in this way and enjoyed putting her office skills to work, so she applied for the position. She is overjoyed to be a part of the Anchor Point Bible Church team and is excited to see how God uses her in this new chapter.
