Dr. Rob Renberg

Lead Pastor
Dr. Rob Renberg is more passionate than ever about the life-giving, world-transforming potential of the Church. With over 40 years in ministry, he has pastored churches in four different states and, since 2016, has served as the Lead Pastor at Anchor Point Bible Church in Norton Shores.

Rob has been married to his wife, Amy, for 39 years. They have four grown children and are affectionately known as “Baba” (Swahili for Grandpa) and “Gigi” by their nine beloved grandchildren.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Dr. Renberg has served as an adjunct professor at Grace Bible College (now Grace Christian University) in Grand Rapids since earning his Ph.D. in Pulpit Communication and Expository Preaching from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2005. For the past 28years, he has also served on the board of Grace Ministries International, a global missionary-sending organization.

His ministry has taken him around the world, including nine trips to Africa and additional travels to Central America, where he has preached, taught, and equipped national pastors. He has also helped to facilitate and develop the mission and vision of Grace churches in those countries.

Rob enjoys a range of outdoor activities including golf, hunting, and sunset walks to Lake Michigan, just a short trek from his home over the dunes.

His life verse is:
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”
(Philippians 1:21).

Dr. Renberg is a positive and enthusiastic leader whose greatest joy is preaching the Word of God rightly divided, helping people understand their identity and completeness in Christ, and pointing them toward the victorious Christian life—by the grace of God. His preaching brings the Bible to life with practical, applicable truths for everyday living.

Pastor James O’brien

Youth Pastor
James O’Brien was born in Denver, Colorado, but shortly afterward, his family relocated to California. Over the next several years, they had the opportunity to live in both California and Colorado, as well as in Seattle, Washington. James has one younger sister who currently lives in Georgia, and his mother resides just north of Seattle.

Throughout those many moves, church was a regular part of life. However, it was while living in Denver that James came to faith in Christ at the age of 10, after hearing the gospel through Evangelist Lee Homoki.

In 1985, the family moved back to Seattle as James was entering sixth grade. One of the most significant aspects of that move was attending Berean Bible Church, where many individuals played a key role in helping him grow spiritually. It was through that church community that James began a journey that would eventually lead him to pursue vocational youth ministry.

Before fully stepping into ministry, James attended Grace Bible College during 1992–1993 and again in 1996, with two years of service in the U.S. Navy in between (1994–1996). In 1998, he returned to Grace Bible College to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry, graduating in 2002.

Since then, James has had the privilege of serving in youth ministry across a variety of settings—including churches, schools, and parachurch organizations.

Today, James is thrilled to be part of the church family at Anchor Point, and loves building relationships and partnering together to love God, love others, and love life in the Norton Shores community and surrounding areas.

Robert Reese

Worship Pastor
Robert Reese was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He came to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at the age of 15.  When he was 18, he was the Worship Leader and Choir Director at his small local church. It was during this time that he felt the call into ministry. To get the money for college, he joined the Army at the age of 21.  Robert spent 16 years in the military. In 2009, He married his wife, Tamara and together raised their two sons. His time in the military proved very useful as God used that time to grow him in his leadership abilities as well as working with Army Chaplains. During his tours, Robert had the opportunity to lead worship services in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After his time in the military, Robert and Tamara moved back to Norton Shores, MI. In 2016 they started attending church services at Anchor Point Bible Church and got involved in the worship department and other leadership roles. He has served as a Deacon on the Board, and last year was licensed to the ministry as the new Worship Pastor. He strives to have our worship reflect our mission at Anchor Point Bible Church “Loving God, Loving People, Loving Life.” His desire is for our church family to live a life of worship every day of the week, not just on Sundays!
